  • Holiday hoops events have a clear hierarchy

        SHEPHERDSVILLE - What can you say about a tournament where you lose the first game of the event to the second ranked team in Kentucky to fall into the consolation bracket?
        Once you get there, you face two more teams ranked among the top five teams coming into the season by the state’s coaches.
        You just say ‘wow’ and walk away happy with a 2-2 record.

  • NB Lady Eagles roll on in tournament

    HEBRON ESTATES - The North Bullitt Lady Eagles were rolling in the first half of the semifinals Tuesday night of the First Citizens Bank Classic.

    However, an offensive shortage in the third quarter will land the Lady Eagles in the third-place game tonight against North Oldham.

    North Bullitt and North Oldham will tip off at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. John Hardin and Warren Central will play for the championship at 8 p.m.

    The tournament starts at 3:30 p.m.

     HEBRON ESTATES - The North Bullitt Lady Eagles still have a lot to learn, but coach Amber Courtney’s team learned a lot before Christmas competing in the Campbellsville Holiday Classic.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Basketballs will be bouncing all over the state this week with high school holiday tournaments.

                  Before meeting in the championship game of the Sarah Major Barger Memorial Tournament at North Bullitt on Wednesday, the Bullitt Central Cougars and the North Bullitt Eagles each had to win two games to reach the final of the 8-team tournament.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Give the first salvo of what could be numerous meetings over the next two months to the North Bullitt Eagles in their annual give-and-take with arch-rival Bullitt Central.

  • Chargers get a split of opening games in KOB

     FAIRDALE - The Bullitt East Chargers suffered the first loss of the season on Sunday in the opening round of the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Tournament at Fairdale High School.

  • Lady Chargers getting hot after a cold start

    MOUNT WASHINGTON - After a slow start to the season fueled by inexperience, youthfulness and even illness, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers seem to rounding into the form that had them ranked among the top-25 teams in the state before the season began.

    The best performance yet this season came on Tuesday when the Lady Chargers scored 50 points in the two middle quarters at home and turned back traditional Seventh Region power Christian Academy 67-50. It was the first loss in four games for the Lady Centurions.

  • Player of the Year

      Top Player - North Bullitt senior running back Zack Reynolds was recently named the Bullitt County Football Player of the Year. He received his award from Tim Gonterman and Mark Schmid while North Bullitt head coach Brett Newton looks on. The award is sponsored by Schmid Funeral Home, The Pioneer News, The Awards Center and WFBR Radio.  

  • Barger tourney next up for NB

    HEBRON ESTATES - After starting the season 3-2, the North Bullitt Eagles will spend the first part of Christmas at home this week as the program hosts the Sarah Major Barger Memorial Tournament.

    This will be the second year for the event which is named in honor of the late mother of North Bullitt head coach Lee Barger.
