  • Charger trio is set for Wednesday scrimmage

     MOUNT WASHINGTON - A trio of Bullitt East players will take part in a scrimmage tonight at Trinity High School against the Kentucky All-Stars as that team prepares for this weekend’s meetings with the best players from Indiana.

  • UPDATE: Lady Chargers ready for a long week

     UPDATE (Friday, June 8, 3:45 p.m.): - The Bullitt East Lady Chargers experienced a shorter trip to Owensboro than they had originally hoped.

    Bullitt East fell to Scott County 9-3 in their second game of the 2012 Rawlings/KHSAA Softball State Tournament.

    It was the second loss for the Lady Chargers in the double-elimination tournament. They were defeated 16-1 by Mercy on Thursday.

  • Recktenwald's two-hitter lifts Chargers over Butler

     LOUISVILLE - After giving up his second hit to the Butler Bears on Wednesday evening, Jonathan Recktenwald made a clear statement to anyone listening in the Bullitt East dugout.
     There would be no more hits allowed while he was on the mound.
     Be it prophetic or just determined, the junior right-hander would not give up another hit after the second inning en route to a 3-0 shutout.

     LOUISVILLE - Coaches say it all the time with varying degrees of meaning. Coaching lexicon is filled with variations of 'they made the plays and we didn't.'
     On Friday night at the end of the Sixth Region Baseball Championship game, Bullitt East head coach Jeff Bowles could say that with meaning. His team made six errors, including three in one inning, as the Chargers dropped a 3-0 decision to Pleasure Ridge Park.

     LOUISVILLE - Exploding for eight runs over the first two innings, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers survived what turned into an ugly game on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the Sixth Region Softball Tournament at Ulmer Stadium on the University of Louisville campus.

  • State Bound!! Lady Chargers rout Butler 8-2

     LOUISVILLE - Heading into the championship game of the Sixth Region Softball Tournament on Saturday, senior pitcher Jamie Lutes was a big question mark for the Bullitt East Lady Chargers after one of her worst performances of the season on Wednesday in the semi-finals.
     The senior hurler, who had started the regional final two years ago, was up to the task against Butler. Lutes scattered seven hits and did not walk or hit a batter as Bullitt East rolled to its first fast-pitch regional title with an 8-2 decision over the Bearettes.

     LOUISVILLE - Heavy rain on Tuesday forced the Sixth Region Softball Tournament to postpone the scheduled games on Tuesday, pushing the entire Sixth/Seventh Region Tournaments back one day.
