Out of 2,633 male shooters, the 11th grader placed fifth overall after a shootout.</p> <p> For 11th graders alone, Vaughn was second out of 165 competitors.</p> First Summer of Baseball http://www.pioneernews.net/content/first-summer-baseball <img src="http://www.pioneernews.net/sites/www.pioneernews.net/files/imagecache/thumb85/mw_as_15_-_u-6_team_pic.jpg" alt="" title="" align="left" hspace="6" /><p> &nbsp;The Mount Washington Under-6 All-Star team, the youngest All-Star team that the league names has had a strong summer.</p> <p> Unlike some of the older All-Star teams, the U-6 squad does not have tourneys in the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth series. Instead, the machine-pitch group plays in some independent tournaments. On July 11-12, the team won the Die Hard Invitational at Valley Sports Complex. Two weeks earlier, the teams had taken part in the West Kentucky State Tournament in Glasgow (including additional teams from the Blue Lick league) with mixed results.</p>
