  • East has to win; NB, BC could...

SHEPHERDSVILLE – Despite pulling off the remarkable 44-43 win over North Bullitt on Friday, the Bullitt East Chargers need to do it again this week against district rival Oldham County if they want the season to continue in two weeks in the Class 5-A play-offs.

Bullitt East will have to do it on a short week of practice; because it is Fall Break week in Oldham County, the game has been shifted to Thursday night starting at 7:30 p.m.

  • NB still Queens of 23rd District

OKOLONA – The North Bullitt Lady Eagles continued their reign in the 23rd District on Tuesday as coach Amber Mink’s team won for a fifth straight year, this time by a 10-0 score over Moore.

While this was old hat for North Bullitt, playing in the district final was a brand new occurrence for Moore. The Lady Mustangs benefited from Bullitt Central pulling out of post-season play and reached the final by beating Southern 4-0 a day earlier in the first-round contest.

  • Mercy gets the best of East 5-0

FERN CREEK – The fact that Mercy and Bullitt East were meeting in the 24th District Girls’ Soccer final was no surprise.

In the five years under the present alignment, the two powers have met in the four previous championship matches. Each time, Mercy won, but Bullitt East had narrowed the game from the regular season meeting.

  • The Clash! -- East wins...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – The two programs have met 36 times previously in The Clash, but none of those earlier incarnations could surpass Friday’s titanic battle that wasn’t over until two plays after the clock ticked to :00.
In the fourth quarter alone, Bullitt East and North Bullitt combined to score 39 points. Over the final 5:44, the district rivals accounted for four touchdowns, a pair of two-point conversions and a field goal.

  • Bullitt Central loses, then wins...

SHEPHERDSVILLE -- After taking a tough 39-7 loss to South Oldham on Friday night, Bullitt Central players didn’t leave the field with much joy.
Little did they know that about a half hour after their final horn sounded, Bullitt Central would be the recipient of the Bullitt Cup.
After a thrilling 44-43 victory by Bullitt East over North Bullitt, each of the three schools finished with a single win in the Bullitt Cup series.

  • Now North gets semi-final match...

SHEPHERDSVILLE – After battling Bullitt East the past four years in the Girls’ Sixth Region Soccer Tournament semi-finals, the North Bullitt Lady Eagles are in line this year to face Mercy on Wednesday.
Friday’s draw put Bullitt East away from the other two powers in the Sixth Region as the red and gold have already lost to both Mercy (twice) and North Bullitt (once). Bullitt East has played in the last four Sixth Region finals, losing to Mercy each time, after beating North Bullitt in the semi-finals.
