  • After five sports at BC, Gilbert...

SHEPHERDSVILLE -- As a senior at Bullitt Central this past school year, senior Kassi Gilbert played five sports and played them all well.
But when it came time to select one sport to participate in at the next level, the choice was not difficult -- soccer.
“Definitely soccer was my favorite sport,” the senior said recently. “I’ve played it the longest and enjoy it the most.”

  • Pitching gem ends with Campbell...

LEXINGTON – Bullitt East’s sweet post-season baseball run came to a bitter end on Friday as the Chargers dropped a 1-0 decision in nine innings to Campbell County in the semi-finals of the Rawlings/KHSAA Kentucky State Baseball Tournament at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The game was a masterful pitching duel between Bullitt East senior Kyle McKinley and Campbell County’s Alex Fransen, a senior.

  • Sharpe, Breeden almost pull off...

LOUISVILLE – The Kentucky All-Stars haven’t had much luck beating their counterparts from Indiana recently, but with the help of Tyler Sharpe and Wayne Breeden, the 2016 squad made a strong run at their bigger counterparts on Sunday at Bellarmine University’s Knights Hall.

  • East’s Maros, Salyer in All-...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – A pair of Bullitt East softball standouts will participate this weekend in the Kentucky Prep Softball East/West All-Star Weekend at Georgetown College.

Lady Charger seniors Shelby Maros, a centerfielder, and Emily Salyer, a second baseman, will be members of the West Senior All-Stars and will take part in two games on Saturday and one on Sunday. Maros has already signed to play at Southern Indiana University.

  • Kuehn takes over Bullitt Central...

SHEPHERDSVILLE – With just two days remaining in the school year last week, Bullitt Central named Matt Kuehn as its new football coach.

Kuehn met with the players later that afternoon.

The naming of Kuehn was not a total shock as he had conducted spring drills while on an interim basis after former head coach Tye Lawson stepped down after just one season, leading the Cougars to a 6-5 mark. Lawson is now the athletic director and football coach at Eminence High School.

  • Oldham Co. first hurdle for...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – Bullitt East’s opening foe in the Rawlings/Kentucky State Baseball Tournament will be a familiar one as the Chargers will take on Oldham County in Friday’s opening round game at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.

The Chargers and Colonels met back on April 15 in Buckner with Bullitt East pulling out a 10-6 victory.

Friday’s game will be played at 1:30 p.m.

  • BE’s Masden, Wilson nab fourth-...

LOUISVILLE – A pair of fourth-place finishes highlighted an active day for local track athletes at the Class 3-A Kentucky State Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the University of Kentucky.

In the end, Bullitt East finished with nine points in the girls’ division with 36 schools scoring at least one point. North Bullitt collected one point in the meet.

On the boys’ side, Bullitt East finished with five points with 38 teams posting at least one top eight finish in the 18 events.

  • Couch named new Charger...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – New Bullitt East basketball coach Jason Couch may have sounded a little like a local beauty pageant contestant last Friday when he raved about the small town atmosphere in Mount Washington and the nearness to the big city.

Just moments earlier, Couch had his first meeting with his new players and he made it clear that he was taking over a very successful program and that when he leaves, whenever that is, that Bullitt East will still have a winning program.

  • Lady eagles repeat as district...

HIGHVIEW -- It isn't like the North Bullitt Lady Eagles had gained any momentum heading into the 23rd District tournament.

  • North Bullitt wins fourth...

HIGHVIEW -- As a coach, you never want to let your players know that you are sweating.
