  • Lady Eagles roll again

HEBRON ESTATES - There weren’t any Cyndi Lauper look-a-likes in the crowd Thursday evening but North Bullitt coach Amber Courtney didn’t mind if her girls were having a little fun.

As the boys’ played the first game, members of the Lady Eagles were in the stands, dressed in their best beach attire and hitting beach balls with other students.

But when it was time to get serious, there was no play. It was all business as North Bullitt wrapped up the top seed in the district tournament with a 70-31 thrashing of the Southern Lady Trojans.

MOUNT WASHINGTON – It might be basketball, but there are still times where small and quick can get the best of a bigger basketball team.

That was the case on Thursday night in the championship game of the Boy’s Bullitt County Middle School Basketball Tournament at Eastside Middle School.

Putting on an offensive showcase, the Eastside Eagles scored 36 points in the first half and then rolled to a 66-41 victory over the Zoneton Timberwolves.

  • Dismal-shooting East girls come...

LOUISVILLE – A lot has been made lately of the Bullitt Lady Chargers and their suffocating defense and with good reason.

Still, every so often you have to put the ball in the basket.

That certainly didn’t happen very often on Saturday as the Lady Chargers dropped a 55-39 decision to Sacred Heart in the Raatz Fence/O’Shea’s Basketball Classic at Mercy High School. Bullitt East shot just 25 percent from the field against the Valkyries and made it worse by connecting on just 10 of 26 at the free throw line.
