SHEPHERDSVILLE – The team members practice together, but compete separately.

That unusual arrangement has worked for almost a decade now and it continued this winter for the Bullitt County High School Swimming Program. The program is part of the athletic program for the three local high schools and head coach Joe White is paid by the Bullitt County Board of Education just like any other high school coach.

SHEPHERDSVILLE – It wasn’t mandatory for Bullitt Central senior Austin Calhoun to play college football with long-time friend Cameron Dukes.

However, when Lindsey Wilson University in Columbia started showing interest in both players last fall, the dream of continuing his favorite sport with his good friend came to the forefront.

As it turned out, Blue Raider assistant coach Powell Miller made an offer to both and within a few weeks of each other Calhoun and Dukes decided they were both heading to Columbia to play for Lindsey Wilson.

Most surprising, Ryan Henson showed an unusual side -- his emotions.

The host team completed its perfect district season and went to 18-5 on the year with a 68-22 defeat of the Moore Lady Mustangs.

With its suffocating press and its trapping defense, North Bullitt built a 20-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead was 38-15 at intermission.
