SHEPHERDSVILLE – High school basketball coaches love to have senior leaders.

For second-year Bullitt Central girls’ head coach Kyle Roach that is not a luxury he will not have this winter. The leader part he feels he will have, but the Lady Cougar head coach will have no seniors this season.

RADCLIFF – Bullitt East’s season back in the sun faded to black on Friday as the red and gold couldn’t overcome a blizzard of big plays in the Class 5-A, Region 2 Championship game, falling to perennial power John Hardin 28-14.

The Chargers played well enough to win. In fact, Bullitt East had 20 more snaps on offense than the Bulldogs and finished with 35 more yards of total offense, but the road team could not convert big fourth down plays nor stop John Hardin’s speed on the perimeter.

SHEPHERDSVILLE – A total of seven local players were named to the All-Sixth Region Girls’ Soccer Team that was recently announced by the area coaches.

On the first team of 11 players, the coaches selected Bullitt East senior Meghan Roby along with Lady Charger junior Alnee Tutson and freshman Christian Foster. Joining that first group was North Bullitt senior Taylor Johnson.

MOUNT WASHINGTON – For some high school seniors, both for those involved in athletics and those not in sports, picking a college can be a daunting task.

SHEPHERDSVILLE – Does Bullitt County need middle school football?

    You bet.

Is Bullitt County going to get middle school football?

That question is not so easy to answer.

What is probably a given is that we are not going to get middle school football in the traditional sense anytime soon. That being teams at each of the six local middle schools with local fields and coaches in the building and such.

MOUNT WASHINGTON – In what has grown into one of the top pre-season girls’ basketball events will be played this weekend as the 12th Annual Bullitt East/High Potential Showcase is contested at Bullitt East.

There will be 14 teams taking part this season with two ‘scrimmages’ on Friday night and then a full slate of five scrimmages on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. and going for the next 13 hours.

Besides Bullitt East taking part on Saturday, area fans can also get their first look at North Bullitt when they scrimmage on Friday.

MOUNT WASHINGTON – The Bullitt East Chargers will get a golden chance at glory on Friday when the red and gold travel to Radcliff for the Class 5-A, Region 2 Championship Game against John Hardin.

  • Best of five final goes to MWMS...

ZONETON – The fifth time was just what the doctor ordered for the Mount Washington Lady Generals on Thursday in the championship game of the Girls’ ‘B’ Division of the Bullitt County Middle School Tournament.

Amazingly, this was the fifth meeting this season between arch-rivals and good friends Mount Washington and Eastside. The two squads split the first four meetings, setting up this meeting at Zoneton Middle School to break the tie.

  • Chargers rip victory away from...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – Tied at 14-14 midway through the second quarter and still reeling from a pair of big plays for touchdowns by Grayson County, the Bullitt East Chargers were in need of a big play Friday night in the second round of the Class 5-A play-offs.

So often, when the Chargers need that spark, they get it from senior linebacker/running back Brandon Samuels. Against Shelby County four weeks earlier, he did it on offense. On Friday, he did it on defense.

  • MWMS survives OT 'A'...

ZONETON – On Thursday night, the Mount Washington Lady Generals and Eastside Lady Eagles met for the fifth time this season – as adversaries and arch-rivals.

Within a few days they will be teammates at Bullitt East.
