  • Eagles shut out the lights on...

HEBRON ESTATES - Trailing 16-14 after Marion County returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter, the North Bullitt Eagles needed to get back to the basics if they wanted to be playing at home in the first round of the Class 4-A play-offs in two weeks.

        Mission accomplished.

The green and gold put together a 10-play, 52-yard drive that shifted the momentum squarely back on the side of the home team. The defense then did the rest as the Eagles garnered a 28-16 victory on Thursday night.

  • KHSAA assigns locals to a 4-team...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - One of the late moves allowed by the KHSAA in the football alignment process for the 2011-2014 season affected the three local programs, but it was in a positive way when the Board of Control voted on the final proposal last week.

Instead of competing in the five-team district that had been on the planning board for the past month, Bullitt Central, North Bullitt and Bullitt East were assigned to Region 2, District 4 of Class 5-A along with Shelby County High School.

  • Chargers, Lady Cougars capture...

LOUISVILLE - In what is becoming an annual tradition, the local cross-country programs used the DeSales Invitational on Saturday at McNeely Lake Park in southern Jefferson County as a de facto Bullitt County Championships.

The course at McNeely Lake Park is difficult and is at times used by all three of the programs for hill work during practice sessions.

On Saturday, five of the six local programs fielded full teams which is very impressive for the sport at the local level.

  • High-octane Cougars run past...

LOUISVILLE - It might not have been 48 minutes of perfection, but it was 40 minutes of pretty good football by the Bullitt Central Cougars on Thursday as they overpowered Doss 45-34 in a key Class 5-A district contest.

The 22nd annual event, set to take place on Sunday afternoon, October 24th, is the final Salem Speedway race of the season.

  • Friday Night - Deja Vu all over...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - When Bullitt Central dropped down to Class 5-A in 2009, the schedule makers got it right.

For the second year in a row, the title in District 3 will be on the line on the last night of district play as Bullitt Central heads to Radcliff for a showdown with powerful John Hardin. The Bulldogs, last year’s state runners-up in Class 5-A, are undefeated overall and both teams are 3-0 in district play.

  • Lady Eagles make it two straight...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Two teams with newfound confidence collided on Wednesday at Bullitt Central in the second game of the season between the Lady Cougars and the North Bullitt Lady Eagles.

The first meeting belonged to the Lady Eagles and standout forward Halee Heltsley who scored three times in a 5-0 North Bullitt victory. In the rematch, Bullitt Central assigned senior Ashleigh Pollard to shadow Heltsley and the move worked to some degree.

Heltsley did score twice in the first half and then added a goal in the second half to propel North Bullitt to a 4-0 win.

  • BE girls ready for the big show...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Bullitt East Lady Charger golf team will head to Bowling Green on Monday to compete in the Leachman Buick Girls’ Kentucky State Golf Tournament at the Bowling Green Country Club.

This will be the first time that a complete Bullitt County girls’ golf team has reached this point. The Lady Chargers qualified by finishing second in last week’s Region 3 event at the Elizabethtown Country Club.

  • East in fight for last play-off...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - The message can’t get any clearer for the Bullitt East Chargers heading into Friday night’s game in Hodgenville against LaRue County.

Coming off the 18-6 loss to North Bullitt, the Chargers will have just one mantra this week - ‘just win.’ It can’t get any more simple than that.

  • Cougars looking to pirate away a...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Bullitt Central head coach Danny Leasor has been around the block a few times as a high school football coach.

The veteran coach has learned that you can’t pull the wool over the eyes of the modern, internet savvy high school student. There is also the fact that the modern football player watches a lot of video of upcoming opponents.
