  • NB hopes changes lead to better...

HEBRON ESTATES - After two frigid starts in back-to-back losses, North Bullitt head coach Brett Newton will make some pre-game changes in hopes of heating up his Eagles on Friday when they return home to host Woodford County.

At this point, the two teams have combined for five losses this season so there is a lot riding on this contest as both teams look for win number one.

  • Chargers still young, but are...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - Three letters might spell the difference for the Bullitt East Charger football team in 2010.

Coach Doug Preston’s team went through injury after injury last season, going from a spot in the Class 4-A state championship game in 2008 to a 4-7 mark a year ago that included a first-round loss in the post-season. No high school football team can expect to be perfectly ‘healthy’. Preston is just hoping to be ‘healthier’ this season.

  • Slow start make Eagles easy prey...

CRESTWOOD - The woes which have been suffered by the North Bullitt Eagles the first two games of the season are nothing that can’t be fixed.

However, those fixes won’t come easy.

After a lackluster performance in the first half, North Bullitt fought back but turnovers and penalties at crucial times left the visitors with a 37-20 defeat at South Oldham.

“For a second straight game, we came out flat,” said head coach Brett Newton. “We can’t afford to do that.”

  • NB's Aubrey gets late call...

HEBRON ESTATES - Never give up.

High school athletes hear that all the time from their coaches, but it is mostly concerning what they are doing on the court or field at that particular time. That philosophy worked just fine for North Bullitt senior Kenton Aubrey but in a slightly different way.

  • Turnover woes haunt Eagles in...

LOUISVILLE - An inconsistent opening night proved costly to the North Bullitt Eagles on Thursday as they dropped a 17-15 decision to Class 5-A power Doss on the road.

Playing on Thursday for TV purposes, the Eagles showed some positive signs, but also made a bundle of mistakes as they lost for the eighth straight time over the past two seasons.

  • Eagles will work to continue...

HEBRON ESTATES - If there has been one team that North Bullitt has handled better than any other in recent years, it has been the South Oldham Dragons.

The Eagles have won the past three meetings with the Crestwood school, beating a program that has not fielded a winning program over that time. A year ago North Bullitt beat the Dragons 21-7 and South Oldham went on to record a 3-8 record.

  • Lady Charger event has top...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - The fourth Lady Charger Invitational golf tournament will be the best yet as Bullitt East head coach Andy Oder has snared the top three teams from last season’s Kentucky State Tournament to compete Saturday at Heritage Hill Golf Course.

The 2010 edition of the event is also referred to as the Bluegrass Invitational as Oder wants this event to become one of the premier events of the girls’ golf season in the state.

  • Intense - Lady Eagles rally past...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - An emotionally supercharged early season showdown provided some of the best volleyball action the North Bullitt-Bullitt Central rivalry has seen on Tuesday when the programs collided in Shepherdsville.

The teams split the first two games and the Lady Cougars were up 6-1 in the third game before North Bullitt went on a tear, reeling off 13 of the next 14 points en route to a 25-13 victory that didn’t highlight the intensity of the match.

  • Chargers must battle on through...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - While the final score of 63-12 was bad, the ramifications of last Friday’s loss to Holy Cross could well be felt deep into this season for the Bullitt East Chargers.

Friday’s bad news was followed by worse news on Monday as Charger head coach Doug Preston got the medical reports. At least three starters will be out for the next month and there could be a fourth. This on a Class 4-A team that was already playing without two starters before the season even began.
