MOUNT WASHINGTON - The 2010 Girls’ Kentucky All-Stars will scrimmage for the first time on Monday when they visit Bullitt East High School to take on a team of Junior All-Stars.

  • Sixth Region draw fits Chargers...

LOUISVILLE - All regional tournaments are tough, but there are good and bad draws. Sometimes you don’t know which one you get until after the tourney is over.

Still, Bullitt East head baseball coach Jeff Bowles was the coach with the big smile on Saturday following the draw for the Sixth Region Baseball Tourney.

  • Wallace, Allen to represent...

Several players from Bullitt County will be among those participating in a first-time all-star football game set for Saturday, June 5, at Doss High School.

The Future Stars of Kentucky and Tennessee will do battle at 5 p.m.

Over 150 players were considered for the roster of players who have yet to start their high school careers.

  • Bluegrass Speedway Off June 12;...

BARDSTOWN - Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will take off this Saturday June 12 to enjoy the Dream 100, but will return with exciting racing action at the ½ mile, high-banked Nelson County clay oval on Saturday June 19 as the National All Star Racing Association visits for the 9th Annual June Jam, paying $3,000 to win.

  • DeSales deflates Bullitt East...

LOUISVILLE - Bullitt East’s season of great expectations ended well short of happiness on Tuesday as the team was bumped from the Sixth Region Tournament in the semi-finals by DeSales 7-5.

The end was filled with frustration as the Chargers out hit the Colts eight to three in a game in which both teams committed three errors. The difference came from the fact that Bullitt East left 12 runners on base to just four for DeSales. The Chargers left the bases loaded in both the fifth and seventh innings.

  • East makes it seven straight...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Pounding out 14 hits, the Bullitt East Chargers turned back North Bullitt 10-0 on Friday in the championship game of the 24th District Baseball Tournament at Bullitt Central.

It was the seventh straight crown for coach Jeff Bowles’ program. In fact, Bullitt East has never lost a game in 24th District play after realignment moved the Chargers from the 29th to the 24th District for the 2006 season.

  • Robbie Settles Snags Shorty...

BARDSTOWN - Bluegrass Speedway would present the 7th Annual Shorty Gardner Memorial for the WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman on Saturday evening and Robbie Settles of New Hope, KY would claim his first win in this event. Other feature event winners included Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY, who claimed his 30th career Bluegrass Speedway Super Late Model victory, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in UMP Modifieds, and Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY in UMP Street Stocks.

  • Local heavyweights lead the way...

GOSHEN - Competing in what could well be the most competitive track and field region in the state, North Bullitt’s and Bullitt East’s high-end track and field athletes put up huge performances on Wednesday at the Class AA, Region III Championships at North Oldham High School.

  • No Mercy - BE blasts Butler 17-10

LOUISVILLE - The last time the Bullitt East Lady Chargers played at Ulmer Stadium on the University of Louisville campus in the Sixth Region Softball Tournament, it was against Butler. On that spring day in 2006, the red and gold had no hits and lost 6-0.

That outcome seemed more like five decades ago, not five years ago, on Wednesday as the Lady Chargers pounded out 19 hits and rolled past the Bearettes 17-10.

  • Toppers on Tour stops in...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Western Kentucky University’s Toppers on Tour will make a stop in Bullitt County on Monday, June 14.

WKU fans are invited to come out to Heritage Hills Golf Club off Cedar Grove Road at 6:30 p.m. to meet head coaches and athletic department personnel.
