  • East's Romine signs to play...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - Despite knowing that chasing a college degree in pre-medicine and then pediatrics would be time consuming, Bullitt East senior Shelby Romine figured that she could just not stop playing basketball.

That worked out just fine for Berea Women’s Basketball Coach Terence Brooks who got the signature of the two-time All-Sixth Region performer recently to continue her playing days at the KIAC school.

  • BC's Minyard is perfect in...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Bullitt Central pitcher Seaera Minyard was perfect on Monday in the first game of the 24th District Softball Tournament and that was more than enough for the Lady Cougars as they opened post-season play with a 15-0 victory over Fairdale.

The game was halted as Bullitt Central was batting in the bottom of the fourth inning.

  • North track teams second at...

HEBRON ESTATES - The final meet of the regular season was another positive for the North Bullitt track and field program as both the Eagles and Lady Eagles finished second in the Fairdale Invitational.

The good news was the continued surge of the team over the second half of the season. This was the first meet of the spring since North Bullitt swept the two titles at the All-Bullitt County Track and Field Championships.

  • Energy, dedication key to Clark...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Cody Clark may not be the biggest or the strongest player on the soccer field.

He might not even be the flashiest player on the team.

But Clark has something that excited Campbellsville University head coach Adam Preston - determination and heart.

That was enough for Preston to make a trip to Shepherdsville to have Clark sign on the dotted line as the newest recruit for Campbellsville University.

  • East's Stevens Honored Again

For the second time this season, Bullitt East senior Jackie Stevens was the Kentucky High School Track and Field Coaches’ Association Field Athlete of the Week last week.

Stevens is the defending Class AA State Champion in both the discus and shot put and is rated number one in both events this spring.

She will sign with Western Kentucky later this week.

  • East squads have top district...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Spring sports in the round.

That will be the feeling this week as the 24th District Baseball and Softball Tournaments are contested at Bullitt Central. The action will start on Monday with games on the two fields just a few feet apart.

Earlier this season, Bullitt Central hosted Bullitt East with both the baseball and softball games starting at the same time. Fans could pretty much keep an eye on both games from one seat.

  • Bowles' one-hitter beats...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - Battling through the program’s first four-game losing skid since 2007, the last team that the Bullitt East Chargers needed to see next would be Lexington Catholic, the state’s top-ranked team and the defending state champions.

No problem. Senior pitcher Matt Bowles was masterful on Saturday, allowing just one hit in the final game of the ValuMarket Baseball Challenge. Still, the Chargers did not secure the win until the bottom of the eighth inning with a run on a bases loaded single by Josh Whitmer.
