         The word certainly fits the Bullitt Central Cougars this winter. In fact, the word might need to expand its meaning after being associated with the Cougars this winter.

          SHEPHERDSVILLE - The Bullitt Central Lady Cougars will have a distinctly new look this season both on the floor as well as on the bench.

         First and foremost, the maroon and gray have a new head coach in Kyle Roach. The North Bullitt graduate had been a part of the Bullitt Central boys' coaching staff in recent years before being named to the girls' post in July following the resignation of Bryan Bates.

          MOUNT WASHINGTON - The most anticipated basketball season in Bullitt County history will get started tonight when the Bullitt East Chargers take the court at home against Lexington Lafayette.

         Ranked as the number two team in the state behind Ballard, and just ahead of defending state champion Trinity, the Chargers have their eye on a number of prizes, but this group does not shy away from mentioning that winning the final game of the season is not just a dream, but an expectation.

          MOUNT WASHINGTON - Over the last four seasons, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers have been in the mix for being one of the top teams in the Sixth Region.

  • Bullitt County Player of the Year

     Bullit Central sophomore running back Trevor Carnell was honored earlier this week as the 2012 Bullitt County Player of the Year at the school.

    Carnell set a Bullitt Central single-season rushing record with 1,946 yards in 11 games.

    Carnell is shown next to Cougar head coach Danny Leasor as well as Tim Gonterman and Mark Schmid of Schmid Funeral Home who sponsors the award along with The Awards Center and The Pioneer News.

     The second annual Cheer-Bling Sports Ministry 5K run/walk was held recently and was a huge success.

    All proceeds went to the Cheer-Bling Foundation, a local non-profit sports ministry dedicated to building world leaders and not just cheerleaders.

     MOUNT WASHINGTON - Perhaps the hottest intra-Bullitt County rivalry this school year was played out for a fourth and final time on Thursday as Eastside and Mount Washington collided once again in the final game of the Girls’ Bullitt County Middle School Tournament.
