  • Lady Eagles' defense shuts...

HEBRON ESTATES - Amber Courtney could not have set up the opening game scenario much better on Friday night.

  • Eagles break out of gate 2-0 in...

HEBRON ESTATES - When the program has won only 12 games over the past two years, any victory should be savored.

For the North Bullitt Eagles, it was a very satisfying opening weekend as the home team captured two victories.

On Friday, the host team dispatched Collegiate 48-38. And on Saturday, the Eagles defeated visiting Washington County 78-46.

Coach Lee Barger was a smiling man after both of the victories.

MOUNT WASHINGTON - After rolling through the first seven quarters of the high school basketball season, the Bullitt East Chargers finally faced a little adversity down the stretch on Friday against arch-rival Bullitt Central.

  • Late surge pushes BC past BE in...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - A 17-4 surge over the final six minutes of the game was more than enough for the Bullitt Central Lady Cougars as they turned back arch-rival Bullitt East 57-50 in the first big game of the 2010-11 season on Friday.

  • Butler invades East on Tuesday

MOUNT WASHINGTON - Four of the top programs in the Sixth Region will collide on Tuesday in rematches from last season’s post-season thrillers when Butler invades Bullitt East.
Just as was the case last year in Louisville, the two games will be switched from the normal rotation. The boys’ game will start at 6 p.m. with the girls’ game to follow at roughly 7:30 p.m.

  • Inside strength fuels East girls...

LOUISVILLE - The Bullitt East Lady Chargers went on the road Tuesday to open the 2010-2011 season and came away with a hard-earned 54-46 victory over an improved Pleasure Ridge Park squad.
As will be the case for the Lady Chargers most of this season, they pounded the ball inside and got 28 combined points from post players Lindey Young and Meredith Polson. Both of the seniors finished with double-doubles as Young collected 18 points and 15 rebounds while Polson posted 10 points and 11 rebounds.

  • Cougars overcome poor shooting...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - The shooting wasn’t what Bullitt Central head coach Joe Pat Lee expects from his team this season, but the overall effort was good enough on Tuesday to beat Evangel 77-61.
The contest was the first of the season for both teams.
Overall, the Cougars shot just 38 percent. The numbers inside the arc were not that disturbing as the maroon and gray hit 23 of 52 attempts for 44 percent. The trouble was from outside the arc as the team made just five of 21 tries or 23 percent.

  • Quick start (9-0) is more than...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Scoring the first nine points of the game, the Bullitt Central Lady Cougars were off to the races on Tuesday in the opening game of the 2010-11 season.
Coach Bryan Bates’ team never trailed in the game against Fifth Region rival Bethlehem as they rolled to a 75-40 victory.
