  • Lady Chargers getting hot after...

    MOUNT WASHINGTON - After a slow start to the season fueled by inexperience, youthfulness and even illness, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers seem to rounding into the form that had them ranked among the top-25 teams in the state before the season began.

    The best performance yet this season came on Tuesday when the Lady Chargers scored 50 points in the two middle quarters at home and turned back traditional Seventh Region power Christian Academy 67-50. It was the first loss in four games for the Lady Centurions.

  • Player of the Year

      Top Player - North Bullitt senior running back Zack Reynolds was recently named the Bullitt County Football Player of the Year. He received his award from Tim Gonterman and Mark Schmid while North Bullitt head coach Brett Newton looks on. The award is sponsored by Schmid Funeral Home, The Pioneer News, The Awards Center and WFBR Radio.  

  • Barger tourney next up for NB

    HEBRON ESTATES - After starting the season 3-2, the North Bullitt Eagles will spend the first part of Christmas at home this week as the program hosts the Sarah Major Barger Memorial Tournament.

    This will be the second year for the event which is named in honor of the late mother of North Bullitt head coach Lee Barger.

    OKOLONA - Less than 24 hours before boarding a plane for Florida and a day after not practicing because of bad weather, the Bullitt Central Lady Cougars had to face struggling Southern on the road.

    The game had ‘trap’ written all over it and when the Lady Trojans pulled within 32-27 early in the second half, Bullitt Central head coach Bryan Bates could feel the trap slowly closing.

    OKOLONA - Who says you need to play a solid 32 minutes to win an important district basketball game?

    The Bullitt Central Cougars came up well short of that goal on Tuesday, but a really strong four minutes worked out just fine for coach Joe Pat Lee’s team. Bullitt Central ended Tuesday’s contest at Southern with an 11-to-1 run, rallying for a 46-43 victory.

    The win moved Bullitt Central to 3-3 while Southern dropped to 2-2.

     HEBRON ESTATES - North Bullitt rolled into Friday night’s showdown with arch-rival Bullitt East sporting an undefeated record through three games, but even the most optimistic Eagle fan still had questions about this year’s team.
