  • Cougars blow-out Dragons in...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - It was a tale of two halves on Friday for the Bullitt Central Cougars as they rolled past visiting Doss 41-24, outscoring the Dragons 23-0 after halftime.

Simply put, the Cougars took out some frustration on Doss after the intermission.

There wasn’t a person on the east side of George Valentine Stadium on Friday that felt that Bullitt Central should have been behind at halftime by a 24-18 count. A bizarre set of events had allowed the Dragons to score the last eight points of the half after the clock had ticked to :00.

  • BC girls' CC off and running

The Bullitt Central cross-country programs are off and running this season with better numbers than in the past.

The girls’ had a strong showing recently, finishing second in the LaRue County Weekday Classic Invitational. Sophomore Rachel Thacker finished second that day in a field of six teams with 47 runners.

The team also finished second that day as Thacker was followed across the finish line by teammates Cindy Kiefer, Alyssa Shifflett, Morgan Hoover, Katie Miller and Bethany Dixon.

  • BREAKING NEWS: BE-Marion game...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - How good are the Marion County Knights, Bullitt East's opening district opponent this Friday night in Lebanon?

Bullitt East fans need look no further than the Knights' opening game of the season when they played host to Bell County and lost to the pre-season top-ranked team in Class 4-A by a 26-21 mark.

The Chargers know Bell County well, having lost to them 15-13 in the state championship game last year. Bullitt East also had trouble in a scrimmage against the Bobcats at camp in August.

  • BREAKING NEWS: NB-LaRue game...

HEBRON ESTATES - Over the first six games of the regular season, the North Bullitt Eagles might have been on the football field longer than any other team in the state.

That happens when you run a pass first offense. It makes games even longer when most of your opponents are doing the same thing. Teams are popping up all over the state with spread offenses that want to throw the ball as often as possible.

  • No lull this time for BE netters

MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Bullitt East Lady Chargers rallied from a late deficit in the second game to beat North Bullitt 25-18, 25-22 in volleyball action on Thursday.

The win was the second this season for Bullitt East over their county rivals. The Lady Chargers remained undefeated in 27th District play with matches against Spencer County and Bullitt Central still to be played.

Bullitt East won the first match of the season 25-15, 25-15 so this more competitive match left both coaches with some bright spots.

  • Special dove shoot

The National Wild Turkey Federation’s Bernheim Chapter sponsored a special dove shoot on Saturday at the Maraman Farm off Deatsville Road.

Thirty disabled hunters from Bullitt County were able to go dove hunting thanks to the local NWTF chapter.

The hunters also go to Bernehim Forest each fall.

  • Four a half is plenty for BE...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - Scoring four times in the first half and then duplicating that feat after halftime, the Bullitt East Chargers rolled to an easy 8-0 victory over Bullitt Central last Tuesday.

The game capped a busy weekend for the red and gold as they had played four games the previous weekend in a tournament at Barren County. The Chargers won all four of those games and after beating Bullitt Central stood at 10-2 for the season.
