  • Bluegrass Speedway: Results and...

BARDSTOWN - Bluegrass Speedway returned to action after a two week hiatus and Terry English of Benton, KY became the 12th different 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature winner of the 2009 season by winning the 25 lap main event.  Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY picked up his fourth Street Stock feature victory of the season by claiming the $300 to special for this division, while Benji Lee of Loretto, KY won the Modified feature, with Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY winning his seventh WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman feature of the year.

  • Same team, better results for...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Bullitt East Chargers will go from the frying pan into the fire on Friday as the tough early season slate for the red and gold takes them to Shelbyville to take on Shelby County.

While the two schools have scrimmaged at times in the past in football and often play each other in other sports, this will be the first meeting between the two schools on the football field.

  • For a change, BC is...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Over the past few years, there have been obvious situations where the Bullitt Central football team was overscheduled.

With that in mind, fans shouldn’t be too put out that for once the Cougars will be underscheduled this Friday when they travel into Jefferson County to take on Atherton. The Rebels are in the midst of a horrible start to the season that has them at 0-4.

  • East quickly jumps ahead in...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - To the surprise of no one, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers got an early jump on the top seed for the post-season district tournament as coach Michelle Gajdik’s team opened the season with a 3-0 record.

Two of the wins were district wins as the red and gold beat Spencer County in three games and then rolled past North Bullitt 25-14, 25-14 on Thursday. Spencer County has two district wins as they have beaten both North Bullitt and Bullitt Central.

  • Good numbers have BC girls...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - An influx of players has Bullitt Central Lady Cougar soccer coach Neal Cox thinking big heading into the 2009 season.

The maroon and gray have struggled in the past to have enough players to field a competitive team and also build for the future. This season, there are 30 players in the program and 22 dressing for varsity games.

In addition, many of the players spent time together in the off-season playing indoor soccer at Mockingbird Valley. That has not only increased their soccer skills, but also their knowledge of playing together.

  • NB is in no position to overlook...

HEBRON ESTATES - While the North Bullitt Eagles have done some good things - and some not so good things - through the first three weeks of the season, veteran head coach Brett Newton has one simple point to make before the team takes on winless Waggener this Friday in Jefferson County.

“We’re not in position to take anyone lightly,” the coach said on Monday.

North Bullitt has some tougher games on the horizon so this is a good chance to gain some much-needed confidence while getting the record back to the .500 mark at 2-2.

  • Bluegrass Speedway Back in...

BARDSTOWN - After being closed for the past two weekends, Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will be return with another “Saturday Night Showtime” edition of racing competition this Saturday evening September 19, with the Street Stocks being highlighted in a $300 to win event.

  • Couch comes off bench to turn...

VERSAILLES - Woodford County coach Chris Tracy had a secret weapon by the name of Couch on Friday night when the North Bullitt Eagles traveled to the heart of the Bluegrass.

No, he wasn’t any relation to famed UK quarterback Tim Couch but he might as well have been.

Sophomore Matt Couch came off the Yellow Jacket bench to throw a pair of touchdown passes in the 28-19 victory over the visiting Eagles.

The loss dropped North Bullitt to 1-2 on the season, while the 5-A Woodford County went to 3-1.

  • Chargers score on first play,...

LOUISVILLE - For one play Friday night the Bullitt East Chargers were in control.

Unfortunately, the rest of the game belonged to the DeSales Colts as the Class 2-A power won the battles up front and rolled to a 45-30 victory. It was the second time in as many years that the Colts got the best of the Chargers at Manual Stadium.

DeSales finished with 415 yards of total offense and 286 of those yards came on the ground including 161 yards by senior Andrew Beeler.
