  • BC moves to 5-0 with bigger...

LOUISVILLE - The Bullitt Central Cougars continue to win, notching victory number five on Friday, but the team continues to do it with less than a full effort for 48 minutes.

Against the Waggener Wildcats on Friday, the Cougars capped their four game road swing with a 33-19 victory against a team that has now lost 18 straight games dating back to 2007.

Bullitt Central is now 5-0 for the first time in 20 seasons. Just as importantly, the maroon and gray stand 1-0 in district play.

  • Eagles have no answer for Tates...

HEBRON ESTATES - Homecoming week usually culminated with an excited crowd and an energetic football team.

However, that wasn’t to be the case on Friday evening at North Bullitt High School.

For whatever the reason, it was a subdued performance both on and off the field as the Eagles were defeated by an athletic Tates Creek team 29-7.

The loss dropped North Bullitt to 2-3 on the season.

“We took a big step backwards tonight,” said head coach Brett Newton. “This is the first step backwards that we’ve taken.”

  • East needs late heroics to turn...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - After rolling through the first game 25-8, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers probably didn’t think they were going to get a lot of court time Thursday night against Bullitt Central.

They were wrong. The Lady Cougars roared back from the dead, winning the second game 25-22 and forcing a winner-take-all showdown. The third game was tied at 16-16 before Bullitt East scored eight straight points to secure a 25-17 victory.

The change of fortune in the second game is not something new to Bullitt East head coach Michelle Gajdik.

  • Mercy's Tran, Notre Dame...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - After starting the week with one of their best showings ever in beating defending regional champion Central Hardin, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers were looking for big things on Saturday in their own invitational tournament.

The magic from early in the week did not roll over to Saturday. Playing in the Lady Charger Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Course in Taylorsville, coach Andy Oder’s team struggled with their game and finished tenth out of 16 teams.

  • Lady Chargers blitz BC 9-0

MOUNT WASHINGTON - In the first intra-county girls’ soccer match of the season, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers struck quickly and then never looked back on Monday as they rolled past visiting Bullitt Central 9-0.

Both teams had a pair of victories under their belts this season, but this one belonged to Bullitt East once they scored seven minutes into the game. Coach Brittany Orme’s team was up 4-0 at halftime and then coasted to the victory.

  • District play starts Friday for...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - After four ‘practice’ games, the Bullitt Central Cougars will start playing for keeps this week when they travel into Louisville to take on district rival Waggener.

There was a time in the late 90s when Waggener and Bullitt Central were district rivals, but that has not been the case in recent years. Now, this is the first district game for both teams after Bullitt Central dropped down to Class 5-A for this season and created the five-team district.

  • East looks for ‘mo...

MOUNT WASHINGTON - Coming off the team’s worst performance of the season, Bullitt East has a chance to gain some much needed momentum on Friday as the team comes home to play Eastern.

The game is important for gaining some confidence as the Chargers have an ‘open’ date next week on the schedule before playing three straight district games.

  • Homecoming to be big for the...

HEBRON ESTATES - The North Bullitt Eagles will return home on Friday and will be celebrating homecoming as they play host to Lexington Tates Creek High School.

This will be the first every meeting between the two schools in football. North Bullitt has played Lexington schools in the past including Lafayette last season. Already this season, Lafayette beat Tates Creek 34-19 so the two teams this Friday should be on a level plane.

  • North Bullitt community mourns...

HEBRON ESTATES - On Friday evening, Robert Dale Reynolds was at the North Bullitt football game watching his alma mater compete against Doss in the season opener.

Less than 12 hours later, he lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Indiana 62 in Charlestown.

Better known as R.D., Reynolds was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon at University Hospital from injuries suffered earlier that day.

Two friends remain in serious condition.

Cory B. Flint, 26, of Madison, Ind., and Brent Hamilton, 18, of Shepherdsville, were also taken to University Hospital.
