  • East and North open with wins...

      Bullitt East faced a team that had not lost to a school in Kentucky but the Lady Chargers may have put their most complete game of the season together for a 71-55 victory over Boyd County.

    Down by two at halftime, Bullitt East would outscore the visitors 37-19 in the final 16 minutes to secure the victory.

    For North Bullitt, the opening game of the tourney was a little easier as the Lady Eagles came away with a 56-37 win over Ryle.

  • East’s Roby heading to...

     MOUNT WASHINGTON – With a little help from some friends, past, present and future, Bullitt East senior Loren Roby cast her lot with Georgetown College to play softball starting in the fall of 2015.

    Roby, who will be the only senior on the Lady Charger roster in the spring, made it all official in front of family, teammates and coaches in a ceremony recently in the Media Center at Bullitt East.

    The pitcher/outfielder also was being recruited by Bellarmine and Campbellsville before deciding that Georgetown would be her next destination.

  • Eastside pulls away late for...

    ZONETON – The Eastside Eagles remained the king of the hill in area middle school basketball on Thursday as they pulled away from a tie at halftime to beat Bullitt Lick 50-29 in the Championship Game of the 2014 Boys’ Bullitt County Middle School ‘A’ Division Tournament.

         The win was the second straight title for Eastside (19-4), but the first for new head coach Doyle Thomas who was an assistant coach at the school last year.

  • Rakes caps late rally with lay-...

    FAIRDALE – A driving lay-up by junior Bailey Rakes with 10 seconds remaining, capped a wild Bullitt East rally over the last three minutes of the game as the Chargers turned back Covington Holmes 67-65 in the opening round of the Forcht Bank King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic at Fairdale High School.

  • Eagles suffer late loss

    HEBRON ESTATES – For the first time this season, North Bullitt was flat on Friday night and it showed, especially in the final minute, as the green and gold allowed the Holy Cross Cougars to escape the Eagles’ Nest with a 44-41 victory.

         The loss snapped North Bullitt’s three-game winning streak and dropped the Eagles to 4-3 overall.

         The loss did not sit will with first-year head coach Korey Craddock.

  • Quick start Lady Eagles win...

    HEBRON ESTATES – The North Bullitt Lady Eagles continued a strong habit of starting fast and the green and gold did just that on Friday, scoring a remarkable 45 points in the first half as they rolled past Sixth Region rival Holy Cross in the final regular season game before the holiday tournaments started the next day.

         The Lady Eagles went on win 73-43 for the sixth straight win for the team to start the season. A year ago, North Bullitt opened the season with 11 straight wins, the best in school history.

  • Eastside stays undefeated with...

    ZONETON – An 18 point explosion in the second quarter moved Eastside Middle School into the lead and they maintained the advantage the rest of the way to beat Mount Washington Middle School 38-30 in the championship game of the 2014 Boys’ Bullitt County Middle School Tournament at Zoneton Middle School.

         The win capped a perfect season for Eastside as the Eagles moved to 25-0 for the season. It was the third time they had beaten Mount Washington this season.

  • East wins two state cheer titles

     LEXINGTON - It was a banner day on Saturday for the Bullitt East cheerleading program as a pair of Charger teams brought home titles from the Kentucky High School Cheerleading State Championships held at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.

    It is the first KHSAA State Cheerleading Championships for Bullitt East, although, they do have one national title.

    First off on Saturday, Bullitt East won the All-Girl Small (based on the number of girls on the team) with a score of 271.1. That narrowly edged out runner-up LaRue County which had 269.1 points.

  • Oh what a week of hoops ahead

     SHEPHERDSVILLE – Basketballs will be bouncing all over Kentucky later this week as the first weekend of ‘holiday’ basketball tournaments will be in full swing.

    The biggest of the events has the Bullitt East Chargers returning to play in the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Tournament, the top in-state tournament during the holidays. Play will start on Friday but the Chargers will not entry the fray until Saturday.

  • Eagles turn up defensive...

     SHEPHERDSVILLE – Defense was the name of the game on Friday as North Bullitt and Bullitt Central put the clamps on each other before the green and gold pulled out a 46-31 victory in the first of two regular season meetings between the two rivals this winter.

    It is the game on Jan. 9 at North Bullitt that will be used for the seeding process for the 23rd District Tournament that will be played at the end of February at Bullitt Central.
