     MOUNT WASHINGTON – There are dreams and then there is reality.

         The Bullitt East Lady Chargers may have dreamed of knocking off state volleyball power Mercy in the 24th District final on their home court, but then reality set in. Facing the top-ranked team in the country for much of this season, the Lady Chargers had little chance of winning, falling 25-8, 25-8, 25-10.

     SHEPHERDSVILLE – A common phrase heard in the sports world is ‘win or go home’.

    For the Bullitt East Chargers when they play host to district rival Shelby County on Friday, it will be ‘win and stay home’. The winner of the final district match of the regular season will earn the number two spot in Class 5-A, District 4 and will play a home game in the first round of the play-offs.

  • The play-offs have arrived with...

      It was a longer than normal weekend for The Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League as the teams played the final weekend of the regular season on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, the eighth and ninth place teams in the three younger age divisions played their ‘play-in’ games to get each division down to an eight-team bracket for the rest of the post-season which will start on Saturday.

    Championship Saturday will be on Nov. 8.

    The program with the bye in the three younger divisions on Saturday was the Maryville Patriots.

  • Oh What a Night!! Girls’ soccer...

     LOUISVILLE – It was a historic night for Bullitt County soccer on Monday as all three local teams advanced to the semi-finals of the Girls’ Sixth Region Tournament.

    This marks the first time in any sport that all three schools will be involved in the final four of a regional event.

  • BE advance to 24th District...

     MOUNT WASHINGTON – There is never a bad time to play a good volleyball match. However, the great times to play a strong match are less common.

    The Bullitt East Lady Chargers accomplished all of that on Monday, taking advantage of playing on their home court to beat Whitefield Academy in three games in the first semi-final of the 24th District Tournament. The first game went down to the wire before Bullitt East got the key points and they then rolled to a 27-25, 25-19, 25-19 win.

  • BC, NB advance to 23rd District...

     HIGHVIEW - Two Bullitt County teams took care of business Monday evening and will now face each other for the 23rd District volleyball title.

    By virtue of their semi-final round victories, Bullitt Central and North Bullitt will both advance to the Sixth Region volleyball tournament next week - no matter the outcome on Wednesday.

    SHEPHERDSVILLE – Good football teams beat quality opponents in tough games. Successful teams find ways to win when they are not at their best.

         The Bullitt Central Cougars found success on Friday despite a drop off from their strong play a week earlier in beating Bullitt East as they scored in the final minute to turn back district rival Shelby County 18-16. The win was the eighth in a row for the maroon and gray to open the season.
