  • North saves its best for last

        LOUISVILLE -- It wasn’t a win and nobody in the North Bullitt softball camp was claiming it to be, but there were some smiles and giddiness after the Lady Eagles battled to the end before dropping a 2-0 decision to Fern Creek in the semi-finals of the Sixth Region Tournament at Ulmer Stadium on the University of Louisville campus.

        LOUISVILLE -- An unexpectedly strong outing from Bullitt East senior Troy O’Brien on the mound propelled the Chargers to a memorable 6-1 win over North Bullitt on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the Sixth Region Baseball Tournament at Jim Patterson Stadium on the University of Louisville campus.
        This meetings was the latest two Bullitt County baseball teams had ever met in the post-season. In fact, it is the first time a pair of local baseball teams has ever met at the regional level.

  • STATE BOUND!! East rolls past...

         LOUISVILLE -- Exploding for 12 runs over a three inning span on Thursday in the championship game of the Sixth Region Baseball Tournament, the Bullitt East Chargers rallied from an early deficit and beat DeSales 14-6 to claim the program’s first trip to the state tournament since 2009.
        The win in the final came just 24-hours after the Chargers had knocked two-time defending champion North Bullitt out of the tournament with a 6-1 victory in an emotional battle between county rivals.

  • BE’s Masden, Wilson nab fourth-...

     LOUISVILLE – A pair of fourth-place finishes highlighted an active day for local track athletes at the Class 3-A Kentucky State Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the University of Kentucky.

    In the end, Bullitt East finished with nine points in the girls’ division with 36 schools scoring at least one point. North Bullitt collected one point in the meet.

    On the boys’ side, Bullitt East finished with five points with 38 teams posting at least one top eight finish in the 18 events.

     LOUISVILLE -- The Bullitt East Chargers are one step away from returning to the state baseball tournament.

      HEBRON ESTATES -- Can an 18-0 victory in the regional opener be a bad thing?

    Well, not really.

    Coach Mike Nally saw his North Bullitt Lady Eagles steamroll into the Region Six semifinals for a second straight year by lopsided scores.

    This Monday, it was North Bullitt sending the Doss Dragons back home.

    The 18-0 victory contained only three innings of play.

    Katie Brewer got all nine players she faced for a perfect game victory.

     SHIVELY – A season filled with so much promise and hope ended with a whimper on Monday as the Bullitt East Lady Chargers dropped a 1-0 decision to Butler in the first-round of the Sixth Region Softball Tournament.

  • Couch named new Charger...

     MOUNT WASHINGTON – New Bullitt East basketball coach Jason Couch may have sounded a little like a local beauty pageant contestant last Friday when he raved about the small town atmosphere in Mount Washington and the nearness to the big city.

    Just moments earlier, Couch had his first meeting with his new players and he made it clear that he was taking over a very successful program and that when he leaves, whenever that is, that Bullitt East will still have a winning program.

  • Late rally pushes North to 8-6...

     HEBRON ESTATES -- It may not have been the shot heard around the world. But, Daulton Walls’ solo shot in the Sixth Region opener sure woke up the North Bullitt baseball faithful.

    After Walls’ blast, Brady Keehn’s slicing double to left field gave North Bullitt the lead.

    Adding another run in the sixth, North Bullitt’s quest for a third straight regional title remained alive with an 8-6 victory over Fairdale.

  • McKinley pitches BE past Butler...

      MOUNT WASHINGTON – Reversing two years of first-round losses in the Sixth Region Tournament, the Bullitt East Chargers rode the right arm of senior pitcher Kyle McKinley to a 2-1 victory over Butler in Monday’s opening round game.

    The win advanced Bullitt East to the tournament semi-finals where they will meet two-time defending champion North Bullitt on Wednesday in a 7:15 p.m. game at Jim Patterson Stadium on the University of Louisville campus.
