  • Highlands next for Eagles

LEXINGTON – For the second straight season, North Bullitt’s quarter-final round opponent at the state baseball tournament will be from the Ninth Region.

That was decided on Tuesday morning when Highlands stunned the state’s top-ranked team, McCracken County, by a 5-2 score.

North Bullitt will now face Highlands at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Whitaker Bank Ball Park in Lexington.

  • Third-inning propels Eagles in...

LOUISVILLE -- For the second night in a row, North Bullitt combined excellent pitching with a big third inning to continue its quest to a Sixth Region title.
And the 3-1 victory Wednesday over Jeffersontown propelled the Eagles to a second straight regional final.
The Eagles face DeSales at 6 p.m. on Friday at St. Xavier High School. The winner advances to the state tourney in Lexington on Monday.

  • Henson, efficient offense lifts...

LOUISVILLE -- There were some similarities Tuesday night when the North Bullitt Eagles took the field against Butler.
While it wasn't the Sixth Region baseball championship, it was just as important.
In an elimination game, North Bullitt scratched just one hit but capitalized on some Butler mistakes to win the regional opener 4-0.

  • East falters down the stretch in...

SHEPHERDSVILLE-- An all too familiar finish jumped up and bit the Bullitt East Chargers again and it couldn't have come at a worse time.
Battling DeSales in the opening round of the Sixth Region Baseball Tournament, coach Jeff Bowles' team could not close the door on the Colts, giving up three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lose 4-3.
It was a refrain that the Chargers could not get out of their heads this season.

  • Lady Chargers fail to find...

LOUISVILLE-- There is never a good time to play a bad game and that goes double for the post-season.
That lesson came home for the Bullitt East Lady Chargers on Wednesday as the red and gold left their 'A' game in Mount Washington during a 6-1 loss to Holy Cross in the semi-finals of the Sixth Region Softball Tournament at the University of Louisville's Ulmer Stadium.

  • Mercy rolls early against NB

LOUISVILLE-- The North Bullitt Lady Eagles were in rarified air on Wednesday, reaching the semi-finals of the Sixth Region Softball Tournament for the first time since 2009.
Waiting for the green and gold were two monoliths-- state-power Mercy and Ulmer Stadium on the University of Louisville campus.
The nerves were obvious as the young team gave up seven runs over the first three innings before settling down and making a better showing down the stretch before losing 8-1 to the Jaguars.

  • North Bullitt repeats regional...

LOUISVILLE -- With two runners on and one out in the seventh inning, North Bullitt head coach Brian Wise went to the mound.
He told starter Chase McKenzie and the rest of the infield that in five minutes he would be meeting the team in a dog pile as they would be selecting their second straight Sixth Region baseball title.
Two outs later, Wise would indeed be celebrating with his team which had secured its second straight trip to the Rawlings/KHSAA state baseball tournament in Lexington.

  • Hopkinsville will be opening foe...

LEXINGTON -- North Bullitt head coach Brian Wise assured his players that there would be a lot of good teams assembled in Lexington to participate in the Rawlings KHSAA state baseball tournament.
"But they need to know that we're good, too," said Wise, whose team will open play at 11 a.m. on Monday.
For a second straight year, North Bullitt will represent the Sixth Region. Last June, the Eagles fell in the semifinals to eventual champs, St. Xavier.

  • UPDATE: Back to the State...

     UPDATE (Wednesday, June 3):

The North Bullitt run came to an end in the second round of the state baseball tournament.

The Eagles lost in the second round against Highlands by a score of 3-1.
