Broad Run Park entrance to close for one week during construction

LOUISVILLE - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) recently awarded a contract for intersection improvements on US 31E (Bardstown Road) at Broad Run Parkway in Jefferson County. The project includes addition of turning lanes and a traffic signal for this intersection which is located at the entrance to Broad Run Park, a section of The Parklands of Floyds Fork.

A right turn lane will be built on US 31E North at Broad Run Parkway. Another right turn lane will be built on westbound Broad Run Parkway to US 31E North. The existing left turn lane on US 31E South will be lengthened to provide more vehicle storage capacity.

During construction, the contractor is permitted to close the entrance to Broad Run Park for one week. This closure is currently scheduled from 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 until 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20. A signed detour will be in place via KY 660 to KY 1319 to Markwell Lane to Broad Run Road where motorists can then access Broad Run Parkway.

If inclement weather is forecast for the majority of that week, the contractor may delay work at the park entrance until the week of Oct. 22.

Lane closures on US 31E are possible daily 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and evenings 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning.

Flynn Brothers Contracting Inc. was awarded this contract in the amount of $227,473. Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-November 2017.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Visit goky.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5 and twitter.com/KYTCDistrict5.
