KYTC road condition update: 2 p.m. Tuesday

Road conditions are improving throughout the district with precipitation tapering off and the sunshine helping to warm pavement temperatures.

The interstates in Jefferson County are mostly wet and are starting to dry in a few places.  Crews are pushing back slush along the shoulders.

All other counties continue to salt and plow the roads and are reporting partly covered routes.  The main roads (Priority A routes) are in good shape and crews are concentrating on secondary roads.  To see Priority maps by county, visit http://transportation.ky.gov/Maintenance/Pages/Snow-and-Ice-Priority-Maps.aspx.  Henry, Oldham and Trimble Counties are reporting a lot of blowing/drifting snow.

Road crews will continue to treat roadways this afternoon and evening in an effort to get all of the snow and slush off the roadways.  Due to the blowing and drifting snow as well as the potential for refreezing, KYTC crews will be on duty through the overnight hours.  They will monitor road conditions and treat with a mixture of salt and calcium chloride as necessary.
