West Hebron Lane to be closed for two months near Preston

-A A +A

Motorists who use West Hebron Lane between Preston Highway and John Harper Highway will have to find another route for the next two months.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the closure of KY 1450 (West Hebron Lane) at KY 61 (Preston Highway).

This roadway will be closed to through traffic to allow for reconstruction of the intersection as part of the KY 61 widening project.

West Hebron Lane will be closed at KY 61 (see map below) beginning Monday, June 9 at 7:30 a.m.  This section of roadway will be closed for approximately 60 days.  Motorists should detour the construction area via KY 1526 (John Harper Highway).

During this closure, local access will be allowed on West Hebron Road for residents and businesses.  Access to the Jewish Hospital Medical Center will also be maintained.

Work on the KY 61 widening project began in February 2014.  This project will realign and widen the roadway from Hillbrook Drive to just north of John Harper Highway (mile point 17.8 to 19.3).  Turning lanes will also be constructed at various intersections to improve traffic flow.

Traffic continues to use existing KY 61 while new lanes are being constructed on an alignment to the west.  Some lane closures on KY 61 may be necessary and traffic will be directed through flagging operations.  These lane closures would be limited to evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

Flynn Brothers Contracting was awarded this $12.4 million contract with construction scheduled for completion in November 2015.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5.
