Hey... it didn’t rain on the annual Master Gardeners Plant Sale at the Bullitt County Extension Office.

This past Saturday, the crowds were huge as they enjoyed the sunshine and the many great items on sale.

  • Bullitt Lick Middle to host Run for Freedom on May 12

Eighth graders have taken on the role of activists and organized a Run For Freedom to bring attention that modern day slavery still exists.

Bullitt Lick teacher Jessica Flores themes her units so students learn about interesting topics as they learn reading and writing skills.

“This unit is all about oppression,” she said. “We begin by reading about basic human rights and then look at a time in our history when those rights were being denied and people did something about it: the Civil Rights Movement.”

The rain couldn’t stop the Easter Egg Hunt at the Wall Street Park in Lebanon Junction.

Well, it did turn it into a visit with the Easter Bunny and get a basket of goodies.

Wet grounds and rain stopped the actual egg hunt.

But the kids didn’t seem to mind.

  • Food Check-Out Week

The cost of food in America remains affordable.

According to the U.S. Department of Agricultural’s Economic Research Service, American consumers spend, on average, just over 10 percent of their disposable income for food annually.

The consumer makes enough money to pay for this food in about seven weeks.

In recognition of this week, Bullitt County Farm Bureau is celebrating Food Check-Out Week by delivering food items to the residents of Colonial House in Shepherdsville.

The dates and locations for the annual Clean Up Days will be:
