For the first time, the show featured a junior division.

  • Honoring the veterans

VFW Post 5710 and its Auxiliary hosted a special meal in honor of all veterans in the community.

All veterans were invited to the post for a free lunch on Veterans Day.

A large crowd came out to accept the offer of food and fellowship.

VFW Post 5710 is located on Highway 44 West in Shepherdsville.

  • Holiday festivities across county this weekend

This weekend will be busy with holiday cheer throughout Bullitt County.

Here's a list of some of the major festivities scheduled for the first weekend of December to help kick off the Christmas season:

    Live Nativity - Dec. 1-3

The annual Walk Through Bethlehem will be held at Hillview Community Christian Church on Dec. 1-3.

For the 19th year, the church will present a live Nativity scene, and seven stops in Bethlehem will feature live characters, including the animals.

  • Thanksgiving Service

The annual Thanksgiving Community Service was held at the First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville.

The benefactor of the love offering was the Fellowship of Concern, which provides temporary assistance to those in need.

  • Salute to our Veterans

If you didn’t get there early, you were probably left out.

The VFW Post 8293 hosted a turkey dinner in honor of Veterans Day.

Within 30 minutes of the start time, all 100-plus meals had been served.

The Lebanon Junction Community Center was full with veterans and supporters of the veterans.

Remember to thank and honor all of our military heroes on Veterans Day, celebrated this year on Saturday, Nov. 11.

  • 2017 MW Lioness Chili Cook-off

MOUNT WASHINGTON— For the fourth year in a roll, the Bullitt County Detention Center and Jailer Martha Knox took home the Mount Washington Lioness Chili Cook-off trophy.

Other participants in the competition included Bullitt County Attorney John Wooldridge, Bullitt County Circuit Court Clerk Paulita Keith, Judge/executive Melanie Roberts, the Mount Washington Fire Department and the Mount Washington Police Department.

  • Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot

KNOB CREEK—With over 11,000 visitors from around the world, the bi-annual Knob Creek Gun Range Machine Gun Shoot was right on target.

Throughout the weekend, machine gunners aimed at burning cars, old refrigerators and clock-stopping targets while participating in a variety of events like the Jungle Walk through the woods and the assault rifle relay competition.

Those looking to add to their collections were able to purchase anything from custom dog tags to rifles with all the accessories.

  • Mystery Theatre

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Patrons at the latest Bullitt Lick Middle School Drama Club play couldn’t see how much fun they were going to have.

The Drama Club’s dinner theater event presented “Invisomercial,” an interactive production by Kamrom Klitgaard featuring an informercial turned into a mystery.

Following dinner provided by Jenni’s Kitchen of Hillview, the show began, with the villian disappearing thanks to an invisible spray.

  • Colorfest this weekend at Bernheim

CLERMONT - It’s not every day you can launch a pumpkin into the air, work your way through a hay maze, and check out the beautiful natural autumn colors.

At least not along with food vendors, live music, and educational programs.

Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest provides all that and more during its annual ColorFest celebration, scheduled this year for Oct. 21 and 22.
