  • SFD truck damaged in interstate accident

      SHEPHERDSVILLE - A vehicle fire on Interstate 65 led to a damaged firetruck late Thursday night.

    Shepherdsville and Zoneton Fire units responded to the fire located on northbound I-65 at the 118 mile marker.

    Three SFD units arrived first on the scene in Engine 1, a 2007 Seagrave. Chief Layne Troutman said the truck was SFD's newest model.

         But owners of small-farm wineries in Bullitt County feel that the impact could even be greater if they had the ability to remove one competitive disadvantage.

  • Kolb starts at one school, finishes at another

     CLERMONT - Troy Kolb had his heart in two schools on opening day.

    The Hebron Middle assistant principal parties with staff and students at the annual first day ceremony before arriving at Bernheim Middle that afternoon as that school's newest principal.

    Kolb was hired Tuesday morning to replace Bobby Hart, who left after one year to take a position with the National Beta Club organization.

  • Programs help to ensure kids have food for the weekend

     For some Bullitt County Public Schools students, the weekend is not just a break from school, but also a break from getting food. 

    Two programs, Blessings in a Backpack and Backpack Buddy, are working to stop that break and provide elementary school students with food to get through the weekend. 

  • Voyles brings new ideas, experience to BCPS food services

     After working for school food programs at the state level for several years, Angela Voyles decided now was the time to make the jump to the local level. 

    “I wanted to work with the programs I had been administrating for so many years,” Voyles said. 

    Voyles, who has worked in both Kentucky and Florida, was recently hired as the new director of School Food Services for Bullitt County Public Schools. 

    “I’m very excited and happy to be here,” she said.

  • Lemme follows in father's footsteps as MW attorney

    A  copy of a signed photo of the famous boxer Cassius Clay, better known as Muhammad Ali, hangs in the attorney’s office.
    Matthew Lemme, remembers when that photo hung in his grandfather’s office, his dad’s and now it has come to his.
    The message reads: To Burlyn Pike a good lawyer.
    In 1963 Ali was passing through the county and received a traffic violation. Lemme’s grandfather, Burlyn, represented him in court.
