  • Coalition works to improve health condition in county

     HILLVIEW -- Kentucky has the seventh worst health status in the nation, according to United Health Foundation. While diabetes and disabilities have risen throughout the state, physical exercise and adequate fruit and vegetable consumption have declined.

    The Kentucky Coalition for Healthy Communities (KCHC) is hoping to change those staggering statistics, Bullitt County Community Organizer Megan Ray said.

  • Shepherdsville man dies Wednesday in single-vehicle accident

     A local man died in a single-vehicle accident on Wednesday.

    According to the Kentucky State Police Post 4, Eddie Franklin May, 35, of Shepherdsville, died on the Western Kentucky Parkway at around 2:15 p.m.

    He was going eastbound in his 2010 Chevrolet van when it crossed the median for some unknown reason and flipped into the westbound traffic.

    He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    KSP Trooper Eric Hines is investigating the case.

  • Shepherdsville Man Arrested for Seeking Sex with Minor

    FRANKFORT, KY. (July 6, 2016) – Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Cyber Crimes Unit today announced a Shepherdsville man has been arrested for seeking sex with a minor.


    Jonathen Howerton, 24, of Shepherdsville, was arrested July 5 and charged with prohibited use of an electronic communications system to procure a minor for sex, a Class D felony.

       The annual Bullitt Blast may have surprised a few people by the scheduling of the fireworks show on Saturday, July 2.
       That turned out to be a great decision as Mother Nature played havoc with other regional shows.
       A large crowd came out to watch the show at the Shepherdsville City Park.

        SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Noah Glass never knew this was possible. He never imagined his first time on an airplane would be a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa. He never thought he would become the seventh archer in the nation, and receive the opportunity of a lifetime: a chance to compete for Team USA in the National Archery in the Schools Program All Star Championship on July 9.

  • Woman, man arrested for running over police officer during traffic stop

        SHEPHERDSVILLE -- A woman and man have been arrested after she ran over a Shepherdsville police officer who was attempting to make an arrest.
        At around 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, Shepherdsville officers attempted to take a female into custody for three outstanding arrest warrants in Jefferson and Oldham counties. However, when the arrest was taking place, Taira L. Litsey, 31, of Louisville, drove off in her red 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible.

    The Bullitt County Health Department recognizes that opportunity as the most time each year to go outside and play.

    The 2016 Longest Day of Play event was hosted at the Little Flock Community Center.

    Patrons had an opportunity to participate in many outdoor activities and sports, such as soccer, Frisbee, nine-square, cornhole and more.
