  • Downs steps down after 14 years as youth football leader
     SHEPHERDSVILLE – After 14 years at the helm of the largest youth sports organization in Bullitt County, Joe Downs is stepping down as president of the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League.
  • Mount Washington Community Park: $6 million facility will have sports, recreational spots
     MOUNT WASHINGTON — Residents far and wide recently braved the cold to witness the opening of Mount Washington’s new community park. After three years of building and many more of planning, the park opened its gates for a celebration that collaborated with all parts of the community, including Fish and Wildlife, the Bullitt County YMCA, Boy Scouts Troop 100, the Mount Washington Fire and Police Departments and more.
  • East Gold claims ‘A’ crown
     SHEPHERDSVILLE – Completing a second straight undefeated season, the East Charger Gold team capped it off on Saturday with a 46-24 victory over the Central Wildcats in the championship game of the ‘A’ Division of the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League. While the victory may have appeared to be in the bag as the Gold team had defeated the Wildcats in three previous meetings this season, Gold team head coach Brandon Egan didn’t see it being that cut and dry.
  • ‘B’ Final -- Dolphins beat Vikings
     SHEPHERDSVILLE – The Cedar Grove Vikings had the lead for 70 seconds on Saturday in the ‘B’ Division championship game in the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League. That lead was short-lived. On the ensuing kick-off, Pleasant Grove’s Mikey West, playing on the front line of the receiving team, grabbed the short kick and immediately headed up field. He broke one tackle and then found only grass between him in the endzone as he raced 55 yards for the touchdown.
  • PeeWee Final -- Dolphins ride defense to narrow win over Bengals
     SHEPHERDSVILLE — It was a defensive struggle on Saturday as the Pleasant Grove Dolphins claimed the Pee Wee division championship in the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League.  Scoring once in the first half and holding off a two-point conversion, the Dolphins claimed a 7-6 victory over the Old Mill Bengals on a brilliant Saturday afternoon. The victors took the opening kickoff and held the ball nearly seven minutes before ending the seven-play drive with a touchdown through the air.
  • Little Bullitts’ Final -- Cedar Grove prevails over Dolphins 7-6
     SHEPHERDSVILLE — The Pleasant Grove Dolphins were looking to repeat as champions in the Little Bullitt division of the Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League. The Cedar Grove Vikings had something else in mind. At the end of the highly-competed contest, it would be the Vikings who were carrying home the big trophy. Cedar Grove came from behind to score a 7-6 victory over the Dolphins.
