  • North, Central take care of business; advance to regionals

     HIGHVIEW – Sometimes the only goal during a basketball game in the post-season is to win and advance.

    That was certainly the case on Tuesday in the two semi-finals of the 23rd District Tournament at Moore High School. Both North Bullitt and Bullitt Central went into the games as heavy favorites and had little to gain and everything to lose.

    As it turned out, both teams took care of business, advancing to meet each other on Thursday night in the championship game for the third straight season.

  • Bullitt East goes deep into bench in early romps

     LOUISVILLE – The difference between the haves and the have nots in the 24th  District this season was on clear display in the opening rounds of the tournament as the Bullitt East Chargers and Lady Chargers rolled to incredibly easy wins.

    On Tuesday in the girls’ opening round at Christian Academy, the top-seeded Lady Chargers never needed to break a sweat as the red and gold pounded Jeffersontown 72-25.

    The win moved Bullitt East into the championship game on Thursday where they were to face Mercy, a team that plowed over Fern Creek 76-30.

  • Tigers stun Bullitt East

     LOUISVILLE – Bullitt East’s run of six straight district titles came to a abrupt end on Friday as Fern Creek put together a stellar performance and upended the Chargers 60-50 in the championship game of the 24th District Tournament played at Mercy High School.

    The Chargers had beaten Fern Creek in the last three 24th District finals. In fact, Bullitt East had not lost a district game to one of the other three teams since the present alignment came about for the 2011-2012 season.

  • Defense, hot shooting leads NB to first title since 2006

     HIGHVIEW -- The North Bullitt Eagles were hitting on all cylinders on Friday night.

    And, as a result, the Eagles won a district title for the first time in 10 years.

    Led by an aggressive defense and hot shooting from the field, North Bullitt never trailed as Travis Dunnavan got the night started with a three-pointer just 20 seconds into the game.

    After needing overtime to win the regular season encounter, North Bullitt took home the 23rd District title with a 72-47 victory.

  • Lady Chargers break the streak; beat Mercy 54-48

     LOUISVILLE – Battling for every point, every basket, every rebound and every inch of the court, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers got the best of new arch-rival Mercy on Thursday, beating the Jaguars 54-48 in the championship game of the 24th District Tournament played at Christian Academy.

     HIGHVIEW -- Bullitt Central Lady Cougar coach Kyle Roach had some different game plans in store for the championship game of the 23rd District on Thursday night.

  • BE relay team heads to State

     For the first time a Bullitt East relay team will compete in the Kentucky State Championships.

    The team of senior Sydney White and juniors Ashley Moats, Madison Spencer and Sydney Hill will compete on Friday in the preliminaries at the Ralph Wright Natatorium on the University of Louisville campus.

    Other relay team alternates are freshman Grace Fluhr and junior Emily Harp.

    After the preliminaries, the top teams will advance to the finals on Saturday.

  • 2016 Kentucky State Wrestling Champions

     LEXINGTON - A contingent of nine Bullitt County wrestlers, three from each school, competed last weekend at the Kentucky State Wrestling Championships at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.

    Bullitt Central senior heavyweight Sean Sanders had his second straight medal winning effort as he finished fifth overall.

    North Bullitt senior Logan James and Bullitt East junior Logan Henry also wrestled into the second day of action.
