  • Bullitt East blasts Whitefield...

FERN CREEK – ‘Babe Ruth is dead, throw strikes.’

That is one of the sage pieces of advice that veteran Bullitt East baseball coach Jeff Bowles tries to pass on to his pitchers before big games. Obviously, senior Chase Patton is listening.

  • North Bullitt pulls away from...

SHEPHERDSVILLE - That first game of the district tournament is the one that worries most coaches.

No matter how well you have done in the regular season, a loss will pack your cleats for the summer.

And when you’re tied at 1-1 in the fifth inning against a team you handily defeated earlier in the season, the nerves might be a bit more tense.

But, thanks to a change in strategy, a couple of breaks and back-to-back doubles, the North Bullitt Eagles advanced to the championship game of the 23rd District baseball tournament.

  • BC closes season 2-1

SHEPHERDSVILLE – The final week of high school baseball’s regular season is not so much a finish, but a dress rehearsal for the district tournaments which start this week.

Still, for a team with a losing record, finishing the season with wins in two of the final three games is a definite confidence boost. That is what the Bullitt Central Cougars got last week as they wrapped up the regular season.

  • Eagles end season on impressive...

HEBRON ESTATES - Securing what appears to be a regular season school record of 23 victories is pretty impressive.

But the North Bullitt Eagle baseball team has its sights set on the overall season record of 26 victories.

Thanks to a strong 3-1 finish in the regular season, the Eagles entered post-season play on Monday with an impressive 23-10 record, second best in the Sixth Region.

  • East closes with win over Eastern

MOUNT WASHINGTON – After a sluggish start to the week and then some bad weather, the Bullitt East Chargers rebounded late last week to add to more victories to the total before the regular season came to a close on Saturday.

The only loss last week came on Tuesday as the Chargers dropped a 4-2 decision to Christian Academy despite playing at home.

  • Post-season on the diamonds...

LEXINGTON – Bullitt East senior Hunter Norris didn’t have as long a stay at the Kentucky State Tennis Championships as he would have liked, but it was still a good way to end the season.

Paired up against freshman Anthony Bosch of Covington Catholic in the first round of the 64-player draw, Norris lost the match 6-4, 6-2.

  • Bullitt Countians claim five...

LOUISVILLE – The move up to Class 3-A in track might not have been quite as painful as first thought, at least on the girls’ side, as both Bullitt East and North Bullitt made strong showings in Thursday’s Region 3 Meet at Male High School.

  • Lady Chargers have won 9 of 10...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – The Bullitt East Lady Chargers continued their late season revival with four more wins last week, but the team did miss out on a game with a top-20 opponent because of the heavy rain on Saturday.

The four wins mean that the Lady Chargers have won nine of their last ten outings. The team is now 24-8 as they enter play in the final week of the regular season.

  • Two games in two weeks makes it...

HEBRON ESTATES – No softball coach in the state wants good weather this week more than North Bullitt’s Mike Nally.

Over the previous two weeks, the Lady Eagles have been able to play on two games. With just one week remaining in the regular season, the green and gold definitely need to get in some work before entering 23rd District play next week when they will play Bullitt Central in a semi-final round game in Shepherdsville.

  • North gets the best of PRP...

HEBRON ESTATES - With a week to go in the regular season, the bats are popping, the pitchers are throwing strikes and the wins are rolling in.

For the North Bullitt Eagles, things are coming together at just the right time.

After starting the week out with a big district win over Bullitt Central, head coach Brian Wise’s squad followed that up with victories over Shelby County, Pleasure Ridge Park and Fern Creek.
