There will be 14 teams taking part this season with two ‘scrimmages’ on Friday night and then a full slate of five scrimmages on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. and going for the next 13 hours.

Besides Bullitt East taking part on Saturday, area fans can also get their first look at North Bullitt when they scrimmage on Friday.

MOUNT WASHINGTON – The Bullitt East Chargers will get a golden chance at glory on Friday when the red and gold travel to Radcliff for the Class 5-A, Region 2 Championship Game against John Hardin.

  • Best of five final goes to MWMS...

ZONETON – The fifth time was just what the doctor ordered for the Mount Washington Lady Generals on Thursday in the championship game of the Girls’ ‘B’ Division of the Bullitt County Middle School Tournament.

Amazingly, this was the fifth meeting this season between arch-rivals and good friends Mount Washington and Eastside. The two squads split the first four meetings, setting up this meeting at Zoneton Middle School to break the tie.

  • Chargers rip victory away from...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – Tied at 14-14 midway through the second quarter and still reeling from a pair of big plays for touchdowns by Grayson County, the Bullitt East Chargers were in need of a big play Friday night in the second round of the Class 5-A play-offs.

So often, when the Chargers need that spark, they get it from senior linebacker/running back Brandon Samuels. Against Shelby County four weeks earlier, he did it on offense. On Friday, he did it on defense.

  • MWMS survives OT 'A'...

ZONETON – On Thursday night, the Mount Washington Lady Generals and Eastside Lady Eagles met for the fifth time this season – as adversaries and arch-rivals.

MOUNT WASHINGTON – The Bullitt East Chargers will get a chance to win a second-round play-off match-up for the first time since 2008 on Friday when they play host to Grayson County in a Class 5-A match-up.

Bullitt East (10-1) will take a six-game winning streak into the contest after dismantling North Hardin 30-7 last week in Mount Washington. That was the program’s first post-season win since 2008.

Grayson County (5-6) earned the road trip with a 34-26 victory over North Bullitt.

  • Late reprieve - NB and BE will...

SHEPHERDSVILLE – A winter reprieve. Sort of.

With the start of the high school basketball season just a few weeks away (Dec. 2), Bullitt County fans did get some good news in the past ten days when Bullitt East and North Bullitt announced that the two schools will play a basketball game against each other this winter.

LEXINGTON – Bullitt East sophomore Sierra Poppell overcame breezy conditions on Saturday to post the best finish ever for a Bullitt County runner when she finished 11th in the Class AAA Kentucky State Cross-Country Championships.

Running over the 5K course at the Kentucky Horse Park, Poppell competed against some of the top runners in the state before finishing with a time of 19:28 to finish just off the podium in a field of 235 runners.

  • Awful opening half sinks Cougars...

RADCLIFF – A season that had started so quickly for Bullitt Central, came to an even quicker end on Friday as the Cougars were bumped from the Class 5-A play-offs by traditional power John Hardin by a 43-14 score.

For all intents and purposes, this game was over midway through the second quarter. By the 6:01 mark, the Bulldogs had pulled ahead 36-0, putting the running clock in order for the rest of the game. John Hardin scored on six of seven possessions in the first half and led 43-0 by halftime. The Cougars did not score until the fourth quarter.

  • Eagles make strong run before...

LEITCHFIELD - The Grayson County Cougars looked a lot better in person than on film.

And quarterback Talon Gary, who had seen as much time at wide receiver, may have played his best game in directing the Cougar offense to 34-26 victory over the North Bullitt Eagles.

The loss ended the season for  coach Brett Newton’s team.

The Cougars will advance to a Friday night battle against the homestanding Bullitt East Chargers in the second round of the playoffs.
