Shepherdsville resident Trevor Edwards will be making his professional auto racing debut in the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA), presented by Menards on Saturday, September 14 at Salem Speedway.

After competing in eight different series at 50 race tracks in nine states, 20 year old Edwards is taking the next step in his successful racing career.

HEBRON ESTATES – Scoring twice in the first 15 minutes of the contest, the Bullitt East Lady Chargers rode that quick start to a 4-0 victory on Monday over North Bullitt in a battle of two of the top teams in the Sixth Region.

This was the first contest between the two programs since Bullitt East beat the Lady Eagles by the same 4-0 score in last season’s regional semi-finals.

After dropping the first two games of the season, the win on Monday was the fifth in a row for the Lady Chargers. North Bullitt dropped to 3-2-2.

SHEPHERDSVILLE – Over the past 33 years, since the formation of Bullitt East in 1980, I never dreamed that I would be typing what is to follow.

On Monday, North Bullitt athletic director Ryan Bringhurst confirmed what had been feared for the past few months, that this winter there will be no boys’ basketball game between North Bullitt and Bullitt East. At the same time, Bringhurst said that no date has been found for a girls’ game but that there is still a chance that contest could be scheduled in the next several weeks.

SAINT MATTHEWS – The Bullitt East Charger football players might have just a little longer memory than head coach Darrell Vincent would like.

Heading into Friday’s game against Waggener, Vincent could tell that his team was not as focused as they had been a week earlier before the classic 67-59 contest against Nelson County.

JEFFERSONTOWN – If North Bullitt head coach Brett Newton had any question about the heart and determination of his football squad, those doubts were erased on a hot and humid Friday night.

Coming off a pair of losses, North Bullitt would get an important 22-20 victory over the Jeffersontown Chargers.

But the victory wasn’t sealed until the final buzzer as a 26-yard field goal was just wide left.

  • BC hangs on late to beat Trojans...

OKOLONA – Surviving a furious rally from Southern, the Bullitt Central Cougars moved to 2-0 this season with a 22-21 victory on Friday.

Bullitt Central had a 22-7 lead entering the fourth quarter, but gave up two late scores. The final points were scored by the Trojans at the 6:15 mark, but then the defense made a big stand late to seal the win, the seventh in a row over their northern neighbors.

HEBRON ESTATES – In a fall season with only a limited number of intra-county battles, a number of those contests will be conducted on Monday and Tuesday of this week at either North Bullitt High School or Heritage Hill Golf Course.

  • Area teams will make short road...

SHEPHERDSVILLE – After all three Bullitt County football teams played at home last Friday, it will be the exact opposite this week as the three programs will all make short trips into Jefferson County for Friday night contests.
