SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Wanting to rebound from a disappointing game the week before, Bullitt Central followed the game plan.

  • Bullitt East plays hard but...

LOUISVILLE -- It is not the trophy that the Bullitt East Lady Chargers hope to hold at the end of the soccer season.

  • Cougars need inner-strength to...

SHEPHERDSVILLE – The Bullitt Central Cougars lost a lot of their ‘mojo’ last Friday when they were speared by Bullitt East.

Now, there isn’t a lot of time for the maroon and gray to regain what was lost. But, the season is not lost or over.

  • THE CLASH: Chargers could claim...

HEBRON ESTATES – Normally, every meeting in The Clash between Bullitt East and North Bullitt has something important riding on it, even if it is just county pride.

For the Bullitt East Chargers, they are not one, but two key goals that could be reached on Friday night when the red and gold hit the road and travel across Bells Mill Road to take on the Eagles in the annual grudge match.

  • The real season is here for...

What a difference a week makes. After playing through one of the wettest days in recent memory in Week 8, The Greater Bullitt County Youth Football League had a nearly perfect fall day on Saturday for the last games of the regular season on Saturday. It was so nice that they decided to do it again on Sunday with a handful of the ‘feed-in’ games contested on Sunday to get the four age divisions down to eight teams for the first-round of the post-season this Saturday.

  • BE’s Pruitt competes in girls’...

BOWLING GREEN - Bullitt East senior Olivia Pruitt competed on Friday in the Leachman Buick/GMC Girls’ Kentucky State Golf Tournament at the Bowling Green Country Club.

Pruitt was the first Bullitt County player to advance to the state tournament since the entire Bullitt East Lady Charger squad finished second in the regional tournament in 2010 and played in the big show.

  • NB, BC will battle again

OKOLONA – For the second time in as many seasons the Girls’ 23rd District Soccer Champion will be from Bullitt County after North Bullitt and Bullitt Central won semi-final round matches on Monday at Moore High School.

The two rivals were going to meet on Tuesday night in the championship game just as they did last year with North Bullitt winning. Both teams will advance to next week’s Sixth Region Tournament no matter the outcome on Tuesday.

  • Mistake free Eagles shoot down...

HEBRON ESTATES – Getting a rare stop from the defense with less than five minutes remaining in the game, North Bullitt marched 45 yards for a touchdown with 19 seconds remaining to beat visiting Shelby County 48-42 on Friday.

In a game in which there was 850 yards of total offense, both coaches knew that the team with the ball last would have the best shot at winning.

  • Coaching situation at Bullitt...

SHEPHERDSVILLE – The news last week that Bullitt East boys’ basketball coach John Hunt had resigned from that post before ever coaching a game was a decision that was in everyone’s best interest.

As is well documented now, Hunt was arrested last Tuesday in Mount Washington on charges of domestic violence and endangering the welfare of a minor. He pleaded not guilty the next day and then in a meeting with Bullitt East principal Willie Foster stepped down from the job that he had held since June.

  • Chargers Pierce the hearts of...

MOUNT WASHINGTON – When his head coach makes a suggestion about quarterback play Bullitt East junior Pierce Kelly listens.

In the two weeks leading up to Friday’s annual rendition of The War, Charger head coach Darrell Vincent had been working with Kelly about reading the defense on the split-back veer instead of guessing at what the defense would do at the point of attack.
