SHEPHERDSVILLE – Voters will have an opportunity to learn a little more about candidates who will be on the May 21 ballot.
And three of the four who will be asking for your vote will be making their first stop on the candidates’ forum stage.
The Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce and The Pioneer News will once again host a candidates’ forum. This will be held on Thursday, April 25, at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre in Shepherdsville.
Only two contested races will be on the local ballot. And those will be for the Republican Party only.
Every registered Republican voter in Bullitt County will have an opportunity to decide the next Commonwealth’s Attorney. Incumbent Bailey Taylor is not running for another term.
Amanda Hernandez Troutman and Nathan Batey will be making their first political run for the Commonwealth’s Attorney office.
Barring a write-in in the fall, Batey or Troutman will be sworn into office next January.
For those living in the 49th House of Representatives district, the Republican primary find incumbent Thomas Huff being challenged by William (Bill) Harned.
There is also no Democrat who filed for the seat so the May winner will take office in January.
Peyton Griffee, who is unopposed for the 26th House seat, will also address the crowd. Griffee recently won a special election to fill the remaining year on the term of Russell Webber, who resigned to serve as deputy state treasurer.
From 6-6:30 p.m., the audience will have an opportunity to meet with the candidates.
At 6:30 p.m., the forum will begin with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce serving as moderator.
Everyone is invited to come out for the only opportunity to hear the candidates speak before the May 21 primary.
U.S. Rep Guthrie to speak
The public will also have an opportunity to come out on Friday, April 26, to have Coffee with Congressman Brett Guthrie.
The event, sponsored by the Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce and Paroquet Springs Conference Centre, will be held from 10-11 a.m.
Guthrie will be present to talk with the public from the Second District.
It will be held at the conference centre in Shepherdsville.
