Foundation fights for cure for cancer

CEDAR GROVE— Inspired by his own childhood cancer fight, a local pediatrician has started his own foundation to help end the battle.

In the fall of 1999, Dr. Caleb Buege was a 15-year-old freshman at Bullitt Central when he had his doctor take a look at a sports injury. Little did he know, the pains he felt in his shoulder weren’t from playing sports but were caused by a type of rare bone cancer called osteosarcoma.

Buege encountered 16 rounds of chemotherapy in a span of 18 months.
