SHEPHERDSVILLE — A local salon owner hopes to bring a touch of graceful beauty to the historical downtown Shepherdsville area.
Graceful Beauty Hair Salon has opened for business in the former of location of Keith’s Barber Shop.
Owner Heather Postlewait decided to open her first salon in her hometown city. She attended Roby Elementary, Bullitt Lick Middle, and Bullitt Central High School.
“It was a God thing,” said Postlewait. “I honestly believe this building was meant to be, before I even opened the door. I had that tug in my heart.”
Postlewait thanked her husband, Ryan, for refinishing the building’s interior.
The couple has two daughters, Rylynn, 3, and Lillyanna, 2.
Knowing the community, along with appreciating the history of the downtown corridor and the former barber shop, Postlewait said she hoped the salon would be a business that brought a positive impact to the community.
“I have a passion to help others,” she said. “I enjoy doing hair, and I enjoy building relationships.”
Postlewait said she planned to host community fundraising events in the future once the salon was established.
“I want to help people and to help them be close to one another,” she said.
Graceful Beauty features everything from haircuts and perms to colors and trimming.
“It will be a full-service salon,” Postlewait said. “I will have four stylists. One of my requirements is for them to all stay positive.”
Graceful Beauty Hair Salon is currently open via appointment.
The salon is located at 299 S.Buckman Street. To make an appointment, or for more information, call (502)275-6935.
