Long-time neighborly dispute turns into injured party as lawn equipment becomes weapon

BROOKS — There has been no love lost between neighbors on Brooks Hill Road over the past four years.

But, on Sunday, things apparently got physical between Thomas McMullan and Larry Haynes.

According to Chief Deputy Mike Cook of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, Haynes’ weapon of choice was a weed-eating machine.

Haynes, 67, has been charged with second degree assault.

Early after noon on Sunday, McMullan approached a privacy fence, which Cook said was erected by the victim.
