Langford to retire as pastor
St. Aloysius Catholic Church will host a luncheon on Sunday, June 11, to honor the retirement of its pastor, the Rev. Terry L. Langford.
Langford has served as pastor of St. Aloysius since April 2019. He was ordained on May 25, 1996.
The luncheon will be held in the church gym from Noon until 2 p.m.
Bourbon, Brews and BBQ Festival
The third annual Bourbon Brews & BBQ Festival will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 2-8 p.m. at the Shepherdsville City Park. This event is sponsored by the Felts Family Foundation.
There will be local vendors, a beer garden and live music.
There will be waterslide and dry bounce houses, as well as additional gaming activities.
The corn hole tournament begins at 4 p.m. and the BBQ contest starts at 5 p.m.
Admission and parking are free. Everyone is invited.
All of the proceeds will be donated to the Nephrotic Syndrome Foundation.

Vine Hill VBS Classes
Vine Hill Baptist Church will host a Twist and Turn Vacation Bible School on June 12-16 from 6-9 p.m.

Summer library Quest for Fun
The Central Library in Shepherdsville will kick off its Summerquest on Saturday, June 3, from 1-3 p.m.
There will be Stage One performances, Laser Tag, STEAM activities, face painting, touch-a-fire truck, food trucks and much more.
This will kickoff the summer of reading fun at all the library facilities.

Boxes of Love
The city of Hillview has a program called Boxes of Love.
Every second and fourth Thursday of each month, a food pantry operates out of the Hillview Annex Building on Hillview Boulevard.
An average of 240 food boxes are distributed to families each month.
Donations of canned goods and non-perishable items are always in need.
Businesses, organizations and individuals are encouraged to fill up a box of items and contact mweddington@hillviewky.org or kdenton@hillviewky.org for pickup.

Karaoke at Legion Post
The American Legion Post 157 will host weekly karaoke night.

On the third Sunday of each month through October, the American Legion Post 157 will host a car and bike cruise.

Youth Fishing Derby
The Kentucky Conservation Officers Association, along with the Bullitt County Rod and Gun Club and Jim Beam Distillery, will sponsor the annual Bullitt County Youth Fishing Derby.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3. It is open to those 15 and under, along with their families.
This is a free event. It takes place during the Free Fishing Weekend in Kentucky.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. All youth participants must sign in to receive their ticket and be eligible for prize drawings. Trophy presentations will be for big fish, most fish and li’l fish.
Limited food and drinks will be provided by the Bullitt County Road and Gun Club.
The fishing derby will be on Lake Chapeze, on Chapeze Lane. Traveling east on Highway 245, participants should turn left on Chapeze Lane at the Forest Edge Winery.
First General hosts singing
The First General Baptist Church of Shepherdsville will host an evening of gospel singing on Sunday, June 11.
At 6 p.m., the Trinity Aires of Campbellsville will sing.

Sunnyside hosts VBS classes
Sunnyside Baptist will offer the Twist and Turn Vacation Bible School classes on June 19-23.

Memorial service
On Sunday, May 28, the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 454, will host its 30th annual Memorial Service at the shadow of the “The Final LZ”, a Vietnam Memorial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Mount Washington.
The service begins at 2 p.m. and will feature a presentation of the Colors, speakers, and placing of memorial wreaths and more.
The event is open to all veterans, their families and the general public.
The cemetery is on North Bardstown Road at Landis Lane.
Calvary Christian VBS classes
Calvary Christian Center will host Vacation Bible School classes on June 26-30.
Stellar VBS will be offered for kids from Pre-K through the seventh grade and will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. each day.

American Legion Riders
The American Legion Post 157 will have a ride on Saturday, June 10.
Kick stands go up at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $20 a rider and $10 a passenger, which includes a meal after the ride.
You can buy dinner for $10 if you aren’t riding.

Memorial Day service
The Bullitt County VFW Post 5710 will host this year’s Memorial Day service on the courthouse lawn.
The community is invited to attend this special service, which begins at 11 a.m.
One of the speakers will be Troy Golden, a veteran of the Iraq War with numerous deployments. He is also an associate pastor of Holy Chapel.
Following the service, the community is invited to a cookout at the post, located on Highway 44 West in Shepherdsville.
Mount Washington Farmers Market
It is approaching the start of the annual Farmers Market in Mount Washington.
The Saturday markets will run from June 10 through Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. until Noon.
On Wednesdays, running June 14 through Sept. 6, the market will be open from 4-7 p.m.
And from 4:15-5:45 p.m. each Wednesday, there will be Art @ The Market. In a partnership with the local branch library, free art classes will be held under the gazebo each week.
All the activities will be in the pavilion off Old Bardstown Road between the First Baptist Church and the library.
Spaghetti dinner for landscaping
The group of individuals working to improve the appearance of Shepherdsville will host a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, June 11, from 1-4 p.m.
The dinner will be at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre and the cost is $5 per person.

Boys and Girls Ranch openings
The Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office is accepting camper applications for the Kentucky Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranch Camp.
The boys’ camp will be June 12-15 and the girls’ camp will be July 3-6.
The camps are free and travel is provided by the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.

The Bullitt County Health Department will host a class on the Nuts and Bolts of Nutrition.

The annual Hillview City Fair will be held June 1-3 at the government center.
